Every year on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, SCA Health encourages our ASC partners, physicians, and teammates to take the opportunity to give back to their communities through the MLK Day of Service. Below is a recap of some community service projects SCA Health ASCs took part in this year:
Allina Health Surgery Center – Brooklyn Park (Brooklyn Park, MN) / Center for Restorative Surgery at Maple Grove (Mapel Grove, MN)
Teammates at Allina Health Surgery Center – Brooklyn Park and the Center for Restorative Surgery at Maple Grove collaborated to donate items and provide services for the Alexandria House of Minnesota. The non-profit charity offers free domestic, sexual, and relationship violence services for women, men, and children throughout the state of Minnesota.

Allina Hearth & Vascular (Coon Rapids, MN)
As part of a year-round initiative, Allina Heart & Vascular teammates recognized their MLK Day of Service by continuing to collect and donate socks during this frigid Minnesota winter. The team donates the socks to a local community member, who distributes them to those in need.
Surgicare of Central Jersey (Watchung, NJ) / Harrison Endo Surgical Center (Harrison, NJ)
In another example of collaboration between SCA Health facilities, Surgicare of Central Jersey and Harron Endo Surgical Center teammates partnered with Rise Against Hunger. Together, the duo packed 10,000 meals for families across the world. The group also raised $4,000 for the organization. 2024 marked Surgicare of Central Jersey’s 4th Annual MLK Day of Service and its fourth year partnering with Rise Against Hunger.
